Earlham College Department of Languages and Cultures invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in Chinese Language and Culture, beginning July 2021.
The successful candidate will typically teach three courses per semester: two Chinese language courses and one course in the area of his/her/their specialization or interest. The candidate will oversee the Chinese language program, including Chinese cultural activities on campus.
The candidate must hold a Ph.D. by the time of appointment, demonstrate highly successful skills in teaching Chinese at all levels, and specialize in language teaching, linguistics, literature, or related fields with native or near native competency in Chinese and English. It is possible that a candidate who is ABD will be considered. A strong commitment to teaching Chinese to undergraduates is essential. In addition to language courses, the candidate must be able to teach Chinese linguistics, literature, or other arts courses in English.
