Earlham College is accepting applications for the position of Senior Director of Institutional Effectiveness. This is a full-time, 12-month, administrative faculty appointment. Salary is commensurate with experience, and includes an attractive benefit package.

The Senior Director of Institutional Effectiveness reports to the President of Earlham and will lead the College’s institutional research, data analytics, and institutional effectiveness activities. This position ensures that College data are collected accurately, analyzed and used appropriately, and shared with key stakeholders to make evidence-based decisions. This position is the college leader for institutional effectiveness and will integrate and coordinate the information and activities that inform strategy, assessment, improvement and accreditation. This involves responsibility for the standardization of assessment processes on campus, both academic and administrative.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Tri-annual Board reporting to include retention and enrollment, non-returning or attrition rates, assessment of special programs data (i.e. LIFT, Honors, Athletics), admissions modeling
  • Weekly Admissions Modeling – December through May
  • Support for HLC Accreditation Activities
  • Reporting to the Federal and State government (IPEDS keyholder and reporting to ICHEDS and ICI)
  • IPEDS Comparisons for Strategic Planning
  • HEDS data sharing
  • Fact book reporting – Retention and Completion, Bacco Origins, Subsequent Enrollment, HLC federal compliance (consumer information)
  • Maintain the IR Public website and the IR Library located in Box
  • Communication with campus community – “Data unchained” Blog
  • NCAA enrollment
  • Clearinghouse monthly enrollment (team)
  • Course evaluation projects (EvalKit team)
  • Oversee dozens of college guide requests for data and surveys (i.e. US News, Princeton Review, Peterson’s, Barron’s, Fiske and others – assisted by the IR Data Analyst position 
  • Serve ex-officio on the Advisory Committee on Assessment – Providing guidance and data support 
  • Designated Institutional surveys – Support for administration of CSI  
  • Support for EPIC Assessment
  • Ad hoc requests for data 
  • Longer term, provide a strategic vision for the College of effective decision making based on reliable, timely data 

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree or higher preferred in a field that emphasizes research methodology and statistics
  • Five years of experience in institutional research
  • Ability to collect and analyze data 
  • Ability to build effective partnerships and collaborate across the institution to help forge the consensus needed to advance the College mission
  • Capacity to work and communicate productively with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to translate data analysis into usable information for decision-making and policy analysis
  • Proven skills in working with senior leadership, demonstrating integrity, credibility, sound judgment, and tact
  • Skills in best practices using technology for data analysis and communicating results
  • A strong commitment to customer service and ability to prioritize
  • Flexibility, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to manage details and big ideas concurrently
